About 4th Annual Santa Cruz Stache Dash 5k/10k

The catalyst for creating the event is based on No Shave November, an annual event involving the growing of mustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer. The idea is similar to wearing a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness except a mustache is grown to show your support instead. Those who can’t, or choose not to grow a mustache simply support the cause by spreading the word and encouraging others to do the same.

The actual running/walking is more of a suggestion than a requirement at this event so please don’t be discouraged by the name. The idea is to spread awareness and raise funds for prostate cancer research. Those who do decide to run will receive a finisher medal and a beer token from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing (where the run/walk starts and finishes). We will also provide T-Shirts for donations of $25 or more. The top male and female finishers in each distance will have their names eternally etched into the perpetual plaque proudly displayed in the brewery.

We’ve had plenty of friends and family come out to support the runners and mustache growers and simply enjoy some good local food and beverage. We have balloons, do-it-yourself face paint and fake mustaches for the kids so the entire family is welcome.

The event will be held on Saturday, November 26th with the walk/run starting at noon. The start/finish is in the Swift Street Courtyard in front of Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. The brewery opens at 10am and local favorite Kelly’s Bakery is open at 7am so feel free to come by early.
