About 5th Annual Santa Cruz Stache Dash 1k/5k/10k Fun Run for Charity

The catalyst for creating the event is based on No Shave November, an annual event involving the growing of mustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues such as prostate cancer. The idea is similar to wearing a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness except a mustache is grown to show your support instead. Those who can’t, or choose not to grow a mustache simply support the cause by spreading the word and encouraging others to do the same.

The idea is to spread awareness and raise funds for prostate cancer research. The proceeds will benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Those who register ($15) for the run will receive a finisher medal and a beer token (or icecream for kids) from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing (where the fun run starts and finishes). We will also provide T-Shirts for registrations/donations of $30 or more. The top male and female finishers in each distance will have their names eternally etched into the perpetual plaque proudly displayed in the brewery.

We’ve had plenty of friends and family come out to support the runners and mustache growers or simply enjoy some good local food and beverage. New this year is our 1k kids run before we kick off the 5k/10k. We have balloons, do-it-yourself face paint and fake mustaches for the kids so the entire family is welcome. We will also have live music by the local favorites Coffee Zombie Collective!

The event will be held on Saturday, November 25th with the kids 1k starting at 11:45am and the 5k/10k starting at noon. The start/finish is in the Swift Street Courtyard in front of Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing. The brewery opens at 10am and local favorite Kelly’s Bakery is open at 7am so feel free to come by early.

Bib/t-shirt pick up starts at 10am on the morning of the race. Remember that you will need to register on the website,, in order to have a bib and/or t-shirt.
