About Assembly District Election Meetings

All California Democrats who are registered to vote as such are invited to help to elect delegates to the California Democratic Party (CDP) on January 13th 2019, from 8:30am - 12:00pm, at the SEIU Local 521 Union Hall, 517 Mission St, Santa Cruz!

The California Democratic Party is convening Assembly District Meetings (ADEM) to select delegates and executive board members in each of the state's 80 Assembly Districts the weekends of January 12-13, 2019 and January 26-27, 2019.

The Assembly District Election Meeting delegates are roughly one-third of the governing body of the California Democratic Party, which is also known as the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC). The DSCC is made up of approximately 3,200 members. Together these delegates vote and conduct business at the yearly California Democratic State Conventions, including the elections of CDP Officers (including Chair), the election of up to 25 State Party Regional Directors, California Democratic Party legislative endorsements, ballot propositions, CDP Bylaw Resolutions and the California Democratic Party Platform.

Each Assembly District will elect 14 Democrats* to be members of the Democratic State Central Committee Delegation for the 2019-2021 term. They will represent their Assembly District for both the 2019 and 2020 State Conventions. Our Assembly District (District 29) will also be electing one delegate to represent our area as an Executive Board member.

Doors will open at 8:30am, candidate speeches will begin at 9:30am, and registration and voting will start at 10am. The event is free, but the Democratic Party does kindly request a non-mandatory donation of $5 at the door.

If you would like to volunteer for ADEM, please contact the Convener: Helen Wuellner at [email protected] or (310) 924 - 4021
