Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music

For twenty-five years as conductor and music director of the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Marin Alsop has championed new music, nurtured artists and audiences, and raised the Festival to international stature. This summer audiences will participate in an historic happening when the Maestra celebrates her 25th anniversary and farewell season. Dance, film, and chorus will featured as Alsop and the Festival Orchestra are joined by ten composers in residence and dozens of guest artists for multiple premieres, orchestra programs, chamber concerts, talks, open rehearsals and daily activities designed to educate and engage. This year’s evening orchestral concerts are all named in honor of Alsop and the qualities that make her so remarkable: Power & Devotion, Inspiration & Impact, Courage & Connection, Memory & Meaning.
