Crafternoon with SCRAP

About Crafternoon with SCRAP

Let’s talk trash & make art!
Come learn about SCRAP (Santa Cruz Recycle Art Program) and make art with one of the artists. Make a door mat from recycled plastic fencing and discarded saris. Create a collaborative sculpture for the Secret Garden. Or just lean treasures from the found materials and make a surprise craft of your choice. Come see what we find!
All materials provided are safe for all ages and have been cleaned.
ABOUT SCRAP
Through SCRAP, selected artists are given the opportunity to glean from the City’s Resource Recovery Center on Dimeo Lane to make art, tell a story and encourage viewers to think about:
What we purchase, and why?
Where does it got when it’s discarded?
Can it be repurposed or passed on?
Did we need it in the first place?
These are tough questions, and yet, to not ask them is to ignore our ever-increasing landfill.
ABOUT CRAFTERNOONS

Every Tuesday afternoon come to Abbott Square for a free workshop with a new craft every week. At each Crafternoon you’ll learn a fun and valuable skill, make something special for yourself, friends or family, and meet creative crafters from across Santa Cruz County.
