Introduction to Seed Saving

About Introduction to Seed Saving

Explore foundational concepts of seed saving at the UCSC Farm on Sunday, September 14th, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Kellee Matsushita-Tseng of the UCSC Farm will cover foundational concepts of seed saving, including which crops to choose, how to plan crops for seed production, and the ways botany impacts mating systems for various species. Kellee will also facilitate a discussion of how to participate in reforming local seed sheds. Workshop participants will then head out onto the Farm to see real-life examples of these topics. The class will end with a seed exchange.

Kellee Matsushita-Tseng is a graduate of the Apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture and the Farm Garden Assistant Manager at the UCSC Farm. She is passionate about seed conservation and topics of genetic biodiversity, cultural diversity, and collective liberation.
