About Mark O'Connor Hot Swing

As The Los Angeles Times aptly notes, violinist Mark O’Connor’s music has “crossed so many boundaries, that his style is purely personal.” Imbued in America’s rich history of folk music, alongside classical music and especially hot jazz and swing, O’Connor blends these elements together into a style that has been called “brilliantly original” by The Seattle Times. With forty-five albums to his credit, his first full-length orchestra score, “Fiddle Concerto,” has become the most-performed modern violin concerto composed in the last 50 years, and he has gone on to perform his other classical works with the London Philharmonic. His Hot Swing project focuses on the gypsy and traditional jazz styles he studied with his mentor and friend, the legendary violinist Stephane Grappelli. Beginning with the 2001 release of the Hot Swing! album, O’Connor has brought his virtuosic talents to spreading the joy of this style of music.
