About "Queens of Syria" Film Screening (The Seventh Art Stand)

The Watsonville Film Festival is proud to premiere QUEENS OF SYRIA, diirected by Yasmin Fedda. This award-winning documentary follows 50 women forced into exile, who come together to perform their own version of "The Trojan Women," a timeless Greek tragedy about the plight of women in war. The women have six weeks until they must perform to an audience of hundreds. And not one of them has acted before...

What follows was an extraordinary moment of cross-cultural contact across millennia, in which women born in 20th century Syria find a vivid mirror of their own experiences in this ancient play: stories of women uprooted, enslaved, and bereaved by wars past and present.

Admission: $8 adults / Youth free. Limited capacity.
Recommended ages 13+
