Rez Abbasi Acoustic Quartet

Rez Abbasi, voted #1 Rising Star Guitarist in DownBeat’s 2013 Critics Poll, has created an impressive body of work with his most recent recording, Intents and Purposes. Through his RAAQ project, Abbasi’s artistic alchemy transforms prime selections of the jazz-rock canon from amplified thunder into subtle, acoustically rendered gems. Fusion classics by Weather Report, Return to Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters, are given a whole new life with an “unplugged” treatment. RAAQ features Abassi on fretted and fretless acoustic guitars; Bill Ware on vibraphone; Stephan Crump on bass; and Eric McPherson on drums.
