About Santa Cruz Contra Dance (Jan. 14, 2018)

Everyone is welcome! Bringing a partner is not required, and prior dancing experience is not necessary. Contra dance is a traditional New England style of folk dancing, in which each dance is taught and prompted by a caller. During each dance, partners “progress” up or down the hall, eventually dancing with everyone else in the line. Dances are high-energy, playful, social and set to live music. New dancers are encouraged to attend the free lesson 20 minutes before the regular dance. Wear comfortable, non-marking shoes, and comfortable loose-fitting light-weight clothing (twirly skirts are great fun too!).

Suggested admission donation is $12 regular, $8 for full-time students w ID card.
