About Soltron + Changui Majadero

Soltron was born in 2014 out of the rich arts community of San Francisco’s Mission District. Their sound echoes the traditions of the Afro-Latino musical diaspora while artfully blending electronic, hip-hop and rock influences. The band’s music addresses gentrification, displaced youth and the struggle to survive while expressing the joy, beauty and pride of their cultural traditions and family ties.

Changüí Majadero Bio: Changüí, the granddaddy of salsa, the music of
bucolic Caribbean-steeped Eastern Cuba, has a raw
intensity and grace that lovers of Cuban, jazz,
and world music listeners will appreciate. With its traditional
Caribbean folk rhythm and melody from
Guantanamo Cuba, Changüí Majadero attracts people to
dance and celebrate life by delivering stunning vocals,
fiery bongo de monte solos, marimbula-bass thump,
driving guayo and maracas, and blazing tres-cubano
solos. Changüí Majadero captures the essence of
“musica campesina” of Cuba, inspiring and
enchanting audiences with its high energy, lyricism,
and soulful syncopated swing.
