Aquil Basheer: Peace in the Hood

Join us for an evening with Aquil Basheer, one of the foremost experts in the field of street violence prevention. Through his renowned gang interventionist and personal development training program, which takes the one-time perpetrators of violence and turns them into peace counselors, Aquil has certified thousands of community-based intervention peace-keepers throughout the United States. He has also served as an anti-violence consultant in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Craig Haney, UCSC Distinguished Professor of Psychology and UC Presidential Chair, will introduce the evening.
