Arnold Gregorian in Double Bass Recital
About Arnold Gregorian in Double Bass Recital
Arnold Gregorian will be featured in a solo Double Bass recital on Nov. 1, 2015 at 7 PM at Peace United Church of Christ. A new member of the Santa Cruz community, Mr. Gregorian has had a long orchestral career with the Dallas and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. As a soloist, he has performed at many venues including Carnegie Hall, Temple University, the French Embassy in Washington DC, and the Crescendo Music Festival in Hungary. He will be playing a Beethoven Sonata and featuring and playing works by Komitas Vardapet, an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer and conductor. The career of Komitas, a creative genius highly revered by musicians worldwide, was truncated in 1915 when he became a victim and witness to the atrocities of the Armenian Genocide. Works by Arutunian, Hovhaness, and Ayvasyan will also be performed. Mr. Gregorian will be accompanied by pianist Lucy Faridany.
This event is in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.
Donations are welcome and will be given to the Armenian Missionary Association for their work in Syria.
