Citizen Science: Black Holes

Join us for a talk he most powerful objects in the universe with UCSC’s Martin Gaskell. Dr Gaskell will explain supermassive black holes, from which no light can escape, can be, paradoxically, the brightest and most powerful objects in the universe. He will describe in easy-to-understand, non-technical terms using everyday concepts, how these monstrous black holes grow and produce their tremendous outpourings of energy by swallowing gas.
