About Espressivo presents Romanticism, Morning to Evening

Espressivo—a small, intense orchestra will perform a program of lush Romantic music at 3 p.m. on Sunday March 31st at Peace United Church of Christ, 900 High Street in Santa Cruz.

Under the title “Romanticism—Morning to Evening,” the program consists of Richard Wagner’s “Siegfried Idyll,” a Christmas morning gift to his wife to celebrate the birth of their son; Arnold Schoenberg’s passionate “Chamber Symphony,” a searing, soaring culmination of nineteenth century musical expressivity; and Antonín Dvorák’s ever-beloved “Serenade for Winds, Cello and Bass,” an atmospheric evocation of Bohemia and its dances.

Espressivo, now in its fourth season, features the cream of freelance professional musicians between Salinas and Oakland. It is conducted by its Artistic Director, Michel Singher, who brings to bear a half century of experience leading distinguished orchestras in Europe and across America.

Tickets are available at www.EspressOrch.org, or at the box office.
