Farm Fest marks the first community open house for Costanoa Commons Farm, located at the base of Pogonip, on Saturday, October 6



SANTA CRUZ, CA—Costanoa Commons Farm, located at the base of Pogonip at 335 Golf Club Drive, will mark its first community open house with a Farm Fest celebration on Saturday, October 6, from 3 to 6 p.m. Admission is free!

The highlights of the event will be the farm tours given by Executive Director, Heidi Cartan, along with intern Carson Dye, new pocket community housing talks and tours by Costanoa Housing Families, and Riparian Habitat Restoration talks by Donna Meyers, Santa Cruz City Council candidate. Other special demonstrations by the Monterey Bay Master Gardeners, tours of the Farm’s greenhouse, art activities in the Creativity Barn, face painting, farm stand products will be available for sale, book signing of “Wally the Wave’s Wanderings Toward Social Inclusion” by authors Rayan Althaus and Noah Habib, free zucchini bread made from organic zucchini grown on the Farm, and much more!

Live music by Wildcat Mountain Ramblers, great food and beverages by local food purveyors, Taquitos Gabriel’s, Empire Grade Purveyors, Santa Cruz Shave Ice, Shopper’s Corner, and Shanty Shack Brewing. $1 food and beverage tickets available for purchase.

Costanoa Commons Farm is an urban, organic farm where people with and without disabilities grow healthy food and build community. Our farm welcomes people of all abilities and provides a meaningful place to build relationships through farm work, volunteerism and social events. Our farm is becoming a place where people of all abilities can learn new skills, strengthen their social networks, and contribute valued products to our local economy.
We offer horticulture and farm skills training, internships to people with developmental disabilities, environmental and gardening education, and micro-enterprise opportunities on a roughly four-acre urban organic farm at the base of Pogonip in the heart of Santa Cruz.
