About Growing Medicinal Herbs in the Home Garden

Learn how to get started growing medicinal herbs in the home garden at the Alan Chadwick Garden at UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, March 7 from 9:30am to 11:30am. Workshop instructor Cameron Salomon will cover the basics of starting, growing, harvesting, and using medicinal herbs that thrive in our coastal climate.

Instructor Cameron Salomon is a formally-trained herbalist who has been involved with farming, gardening, permaculture, and herbalism for 16 years. In 2018 she founded Kindred Herbs, a small organic medicinal plant nursery, in Santa Cruz. Cameron will share her extensive herbal knowledge with workshop attendees.

Participants will learn how to grow medicinal herbs as well as how to dry and store them. After a walk through the garden, the class will mix a batch of herbal tea to take home. Attendees will also leave with cuttings and seeds of easy to grow herbs.

The cost of the workshop is $35 for the general public (pre-registered) or $45 at the door, and $25 for members of the Friends of the UCSC Farm and Garden (pre-registered) or $35 at the door. $10 for UCSC students. Pre-register at: growherbs2020.bpt.me. Note: cash or check only at the door.
