Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: Dark Sky Advocacy in Santa Cruz
About Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: Dark Sky Advocacy in Santa Cruz
Learn about the history of light pollution and some of the work and goals of the Santa Cruz Chapter of the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) at the July meeting of the Santa Cruz Astronomy Club. Although the dark sky movement was started by astronomers, the problem of light pollution has become a much more diverse issue. Concerns over the ill effects of nighttime lighting on the environment and human health are growing. Presented by local IDA chapter member Andy Kreyche, attendees will be encouraged to both ask questions and share their concerns about lighting in our area. The meeting is free and open to the public.
