About Lauren Barth and Jesse Aycock + Sioux City Kid
Saturday, May 27th | 8pm (Doors at 7:30pm)
Tickets: $10-$20 (Sliding Scale)
Lauren Barth - "A modern folk singer, captivated with the idealized American West. Those images and sounds bleed through her music, yet the sound is uniquely her own. A guitarist and poet since an early age, her craft is delicately reminiscent of the singer-songwriters of the 1970’s. Lauren’s music nods to the muses – Neal Cassady, Gram Parsons, Big Sur, the California desert, and the many roads that lead from here to there and back again. Her upcoming EP “Hangman” was recorded at the legendary Prairie Sun Studios in Cotati, California and brings a style that lies somewhere between Nashville and Laurel Canyon, western swing and psychedelia."
JESSE AYCOCK BAND, is a Singer Songwriter/Multi Instrumentalist from Tulsa Oklahoma. He crafts his own unique brand of music with influences of early rock, the original Tulsa sound, folk, psychedelic, country and soul into his songs. His artistry captures the human condition in story songs, love songs, and songs about everyday life. When he sings his songs in his high and tender tenor that is reminiscent of John Lennon, he conveys the loneliness and longing of Gram Parson’s best work with Emmylou Harris, and the soulfulness of Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes.
Sioux City Kid grew from the work of singer/songwriter Jared Griffin and quickly became a juggernaut in the San Francisco music scene, sharing bills with classics such as Emmylou Harris and Spoon while packing houses in the best venues in San Francisco with their own high energy headlining act. Griffin’s distinct sandpaper-laced voice, which is “nestled somewhere between Tom Waits and Howlin’ Wolf”, cuts through words like a knife to resonate with a depth rarely seen in today’s musical landscape.
