About Open House at the Castro Adobe: The Pajaro Valley in the Mexican Era

Our Castro family came here in Spanish times, built their adobe just as California was becoming our 31st state. Their legacies remain today; but the Castro’s heyday began with the Mexican land grant of Rancho San Andrés and the height of cattle ranching in the Pájaro Valley. Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with us and catch a glimpse of our future, already in progress. This hidden jewel in the Pájaro Valley is currently an active construction site as the adobe building is being repaired and is open only during scheduled events. Free event; limited parking (carpooling encouraged).
