Opening Reception - She Can Handle Both Exhibition
About Opening Reception - She Can Handle Both Exhibition
The San Lorenzo Valley Museum will celebrate the centennial of Women’s suffrage with a new exhibit, She Can Handle Both. It will run from April 5 - November 29, 2020.
I Can Handle Both was a slogan used during the California Women’s Suffrage Movement, which resulted in the 8th amendment in California in 1911. This exhibition will examine the movement in the San Lorenzo Valley and will explore why rural votes, such as those in Santa Cruz County, were so important in 1911. It will examine the period between 1911 and 1920 when women won the right to vote nationally and it will also examine why the Equal Rights Amendment, introduced in 1923, has never been fully ratified.
Light refreshments.
Cost: Free, donations appreciated.
