About Read Across the Globe

Want to make a difference in the lives of young readers?

On October 19th volunteers from around the world will join together to read to children in an effort to make this the single largest day of reading.

The Points of Light Foundation is seeking to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most children read to in a 24 hour period. As such they are looking for communities to spread awareness, read to children or become an official Guinness Book location.

To celebrate their goal our program YouthSERVE and the Watsonville High School ECHO Academy will read to 600 students at Starlight Elementary School and we need adult volunteers to support this effort.

100 adult volunteers are needed to read with the kids, take photos, distribute books, and register readers.

By giving just an hour or more of your time you can be a part of this global movement to instill a love of reading to children.
