About Rehydrate the Earth: 2-day Rainwater Harvesting Workshop

Come learn vital information and hands-on skills for Small Scale Passive Rainwater Harvesting on fairly level city lots. The techniques you will learn can be applied to very small lots, big rambling back yards or significant acreage.

This will be a fun practical Permaculture workshop designed to beat the drought and help the planet through infiltrating water into the earth. Water is a profound, sacred and mystical element that constitutes some 70% of our bodies and makes life possible on this planet. Let’s take care of it!!

Passive rainwater harvesting is a simple and effective method for rehydrating landscapes on many scales, bringing myriad additional benefits to the ecosystem. Join us for a practical and inspirational weekend to deepen your understanding of Water and how it interacts with land. Learn do-it-yourself-scale techniques for welcoming water into your landscape and giving it the fullest opportunity for involvement and productivity while it is there.

Saturday we will cover principles, design and layout of human-scale earthworks with multiple functions including passive rainwater harvesting, reducing erosion and flooding, supporting vegetation and creating wildlife habitat.

Sunday we will continue our learning with the implementation of our design including basic drip irrigation set-up to maintain landscape vitality with very low water use through the dryest months.

Our site for the weekend is a beautiful 1/4 acre property in the Seabright neighborhood. The yard is mostly flat with many existing trees and garden beds, a large chicken coop, firepit/hangout space and children’s play area.
The course includes two delicious organic locally sourced lunches.
