About Sand City 18th Annual WestEnd Kick Off Party

The Medflys kick-off the three-day West End Celebration on Friday, August 23, from 7:30pm to 11pm at Carmel Stone Imports, 1725 Contra Costa Ave., in Sand City. The annual Kick Off Party is a fund-raiser for the West End Celebration and Guitars Not Guns and is likely to be an early sell-out. Organizers are pleased to kick-off this year’s Celebration with a dynamic blast from Monterey County’s rich musical history.

The Medflys
Three years after their smashing revival at West End 2016, and more than three decades after they first created a national buzz with their tune “Don’t Mess With The Mayor,” the Medflys are back with four out of the original six members: Frontman/vocalist,Carl Christ; Robbie Evans on guitar, Dale Kurokawa on guitars and keyboards, and Alex Stewart on saxophone. Now with John Brearton on drums, Simon Stewart on bass, plus Tom Ayres on trumpet. The band returns with all their zany props and high energy dance music. Considered by many as the greatest local rock band the area has produced, the Medflys rose to glory riding a wave of quirky on-stage showmanship fused with catchy hits like “Belfast” and “Don’t Mess With the Mayor,” a lovable satire inspired by Clint Eastwood’s reign as mayor of Carmel. The Medflys toured with bands like The Tubes, Oingo Boingo, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Violent Femmes. Get ready for one of the best shows of 2019!
