About Science Sunday: Our Ocean's Edge

California made history with the creation of the nation's first statewide system of ocean parks-a network of 124 Marine Protected Areas spanning California's 1,100-mile long coastline. Like national parks on land, these areas are magnificent in beauty and provide protection for wildlife, solutions to climate change, and recreational resources.

Soon after the system was established, photographer Jasmine Swope set out to capture the essence of these marine parks. The result is Our Ocean's Edge, a photographic documentary project coupled with narratives by author Dwight Holing, that both celebrates these fragile seascapes and inspires conservation action. This spring, the exhibit derived from this project has graced the Seymour Center's exhibit hall. Join Swope and Holing as they share this remarkable portrait of California's stunning marine reserves, and see the exhibit before it closes on June 3.

Please note:
Doors open to the lecture hall at 1 PM. Lecture passes are available at the admissions counter at 12:30 PM. Seating is limited and first-come, first-served. No late seating.
