This fiesta is preceding the annual Vive Oaxaca Guelaguetza cultural festival which will take place on May 19 from 9AM-5PM in San Lorenzo Park near downtown Santa Cruz -- a traditional celebration originating in Oaxaca, Mexico. Guelaguetza means “to share,” and the Santa Cruz Guelaguetza festival shares with the community at large the rich traditions of the state of Oaxaca: native languages, food, music, dance, and art from indigenous people. The traditional dances presented throughout the day are from the seven regions of Oaxaca.
