About Snapshot Stories at the 100-year-old Garfield Park Library

Snapshot Stories tells the world the unique story of Santa Cruz County’s local and regional history. Bring your family’s historical snapshots (from long ago or just last week) to our next Snapshot Stories event at the 100-year-old Garfield Park Library. We are especially seeking images of the Westside of Santa Cruz: the coastline, neighborhoods, landmarks and other historical images, but photos from all regions of Santa Cruz County are welcome.

Your photos will be scanned and returned along with a USB drive containing an electronic copy of all photos. Your images will be added to the Santa Cruz Public Libraries’ Local History Photo Collection, an online database that is the most popular feature of the library website. It contains more than 1,500 images dating back to the 1860s. Images are accompanied by details such as the date, location, occasion, individuals pictured, who provided the photo and links to relevant articles in the library’s Local History section online.

Snapshot Stories is a partnership project between the Santa Cruz Public Library System, Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History and the UC-Santa Cruz McHenry Library. It was launched in 2013 to capture local history and connect the community across generations.
