About Special Armchair Travel & Author Talk

What would you do if you could do anything in the world? Alesa Lightbourne’s son asked her this question, and two months later she was teaching in Kurdish Iraq. Her book, The Kurdish Bike, is based on her true story, especially friendships with women in a local village. Ranked five stars by the San Francisco and Manhattan Book Reviews, and winner of two gold medals in book contests, The Kurdish Bike is often compared to The Kite Runner, and is a book club favorite. Ms. Lightbourne’s presentation features photos of the real people in the book, updates on characters, and dressing up a participant for a Kurdish wedding.
