About Special Lecture—Leopard Seals! Participate in a Conversation with a Researcher in Antarctica

Found in the Southern Ocean, leopard seals are large apex predators known for their sharp teeth, reptilian appearance, and voracious appetite. As one of Antarctica’s top predators, these seals have significant effects on their prey, which ranges from penguins and other seals to small fish and krill. Living in one of the harshest places on the planet, their survival depends on adapting to a rapidly changing environment.

Join Daniel Costa and Sarah Kienle as they discuss their ongoing leopard seal research. Costa will provide insight about seal biology and ecology, as well as an overview of the research goals. Kienle, who will be in Antarctica, will call in with a live research update and answer questions from the audience.
