About Super Stoked Surf Mamas Documentary Encore Screening

Due to popular demand, the award-winning documentary "Introducing the Super Stoked Surf Mamas of Pleasure Point," returns to Santa Cruz for an encore screening on November 2nd at Sawyer Surf & Supply.

“Super Stoked Surf Mamas” (for short), a documentary film about friendship, community, pregnancy and surfing, features five Santa Cruz surf moms who support each other to continue surfing during pregnancy and after the birth of their children. This summer, the inspiring and delightful film had its world premiere at Europe’s largest surf film festival located in Anglet, France, where the film won the Audience Choice Award – an honor rarely given to a non-French film. The film had its American debut in Santa Cruz, where more than 50 people had to be turned away from the sold out screening – hence the November 2nd encore event.

The doors will open at 6pm with refreshments and mingling with the Mamas and a slide show of Elizabeth Pepin Silva’s Water Women photo series, which she began in 1995 as a response to the lack of women surfers in surf magazines.

The films begin at 7pm with “Ocean: Surf by Bike,” followed by “Super Stoked Surf Mamas.” The five Santa Cruz surf mamas and filmmaker Elizabeth Pepin Silva will be in attendance to discuss the film and answer questions. Donations gratefully accepted at the door. Please bring a pad or blanket to sit on.
