The Choral Project presents Street Requiem
About The Choral Project presents Street Requiem
The Choral Project, the Silicon Valley-based choir, is pleased to announce its first concert of the New Year entitled STREET REQUIEM, featuring internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade -- described by the New York Times as "one of America's finest artists and singers" -- February 15 and 18, San Jose and Santa Cruz.
STREET REQUIEM is a 50-minute work originally composed in 2014 by Australian Kathleen McGuire, Andy Payne and Jonathon Welch to memorialize the many who have died on the street. The piece has been performed in cities all over the world including: Melbourne (Australia), Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, and New York, among others. In September 2016, Ms. von Stade performed the New York premiere of STREET REQUIEM at Carnegie Hall. In addition, STREET REQUIEM was awarded a Special Citation for "dignifying the homeless through song" by The American Prize in 2015. A deeply moving and reflective work, STREET REQUIEM aims to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to communities struggling with homelessness, poverty, war, hate crime, and street violence.
$55, $45 and $35.
