FREE STAGE PERFORMANCES IN CHINESE, FRENCH, JAPANESE, AND SPANISH WITH ENGLISH TITLES
FROM STUDENTS OF UCSC!
For its 19th season, the Miriam Ellis International Playhouse will present fully-staged performances in Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish, with English super-titles projected above the stage. The program will be directed by Language lecturers and performed by Language students.
Chinese: Butterfly Lovers, inspired by a Chinese folktale, directed by Ting-Ting Wu, and adapted by her students.
French: On fait le marché avec Papa (Shopping with Papa), from Les aventures du petit Nicholas (The Adventures of little Nicholas), by Gocinny and Sempé, directed by Miriam Ellis, adapted by Renée Cailloux.
Japanese: Tales of the Service Industry, three vignettes by the comic duo Sandwichman and Un-Jash, directed by Sakae Fujita and her students.
Spanish: El delental blanco (The White Apron), directed by Carolina Castillo-Trelles.
