About Virtual Mother's Day Run & Walk

Beloved 36-Year-Old Mother’s Day Run & Walk Goes Virtual
Help Pajaro Valley Shelter Services Raise $110K by Mother’s Day

“Show families you care – run or walk – anytime, anywhere” is the 36th Mother’s Day Run & Walk’s new slogan as the event goes virtual in light of the COVID-19 public health crisis.

This is the first time that this beloved community tradition has been interrupted in 36 years.
“Despite the cancellation of the live event, we are enthusiastically continuing our support at an even higher level. Pajaro Valley Shelter Services offers vital services to hard working families in our community. It’s more important this year than ever to support PVSS, so please join us,” encourages George Ow. Ow Family Properties stands alongside Lakeside Organic Gardens, C & N Tractors, Central Electric Company and others in continuing their sponsorships.

PVSS’ goal is $110,000 in critical funds to reach their Mother’s Day Run & Walk goal and raise additional Family Emergency Relief funds to help the 184 parents and children who are experiencing the economic impacts related to COVID-19.

Every day, PVSS is learning about new families losing their employment. PVSS is committed to keeping these families housed until they can get back on their feet, covering their rents and providing additional financial assistance as needed.

“Most people in our programs literally work their way out of homelessness. The don’t want handouts; they just want an opportunity to build a future,” explains PVSS Executive Director Mike Johnson. “Without employment income, a self-sufficient future is out of reach.”

To help PVSS raise $110K by Mother’s Day, donate at www.pvshelter.org. You can also register to participate virtually, running or walking the races anywhere and anytime. Share your selfies, pre- and post-race pictures, and tag us on Facebook and Instagram @pvshelter, so we can re-share your photos and share the love!

Long-term Mother’s Day Run & Walk participant Justina Vega increased her support this year, despite the race cancellation. “As this COVID-19 crisis escalated, I knew that the live Mother’s Day Run & Walk could be cancelled.
