Take a journey back in time to ancient Greece, when the food was as fresh as the company was salacious. A new collaboration at downtown Santa Cruz’s latest foodie destination, The Santa Cruz Food Lounge, aims to bring the dining experience of ancient Greece to life, with antiquity-inspired recipes, stories and an outdoor setting that will transport diners back in time.
Going beyond farm-to-table, LionFish SupperClub and The Curated Feast will explore our culinary heritage with a collaboration that is bringing a new paradigm to fine dining.
“The Curated Feast will take diners on journeys that go deeper than farm-to-table. This is a series of didactic feasts, where from the setting itself to the elements in each dish, there is a story being told. So, if you are ready, we shall begin,” says Liz Birnbaum of Slow Food Santa Cruz.
Birnbaum launched the series earlier this month at Event Santa Cruz: PopUp Night. Birnbaum has been at the heart of the local food movement for some time. The project grew from her diverse background in art galleries, archives, farms and farm dinners.
Weaving ancient recipes with stories of trade and geography, The Curated Feast with LionFish Supperclub will feature dishes that highlight the techniques of the ancient Greeks, including barley berry salad with pecorino, sea salt-brined olives, octopus and lemon with rosemary, and Loukomades with almond cream and coriander blossom honey.
A key player in the changing face of the Santa Cruz food scene, LionFish Supperclub specializes in PopUp fine dining experiences on location in backyards, farms, wineries and from their home base at the Santa Cruz Food Lounge in downtown Santa Cruz.
