Art Reception for “Extraordinary Ordinary: Cardboard Reimagined”

The public is invited to a free artists’ reception at the Cabrillo Gallery on Saturday, February 1, 4:00-6:00 pm. There will be an artists’ talk during the reception at 5:00 pm.

Cabrillo Gallery presents the work of five artists – Scott Fife, Taro Hattori, Jason Schneider, Ann Weber and Dag Weiser – who manipulate cardboard with astounding results. Using a variety of inventive approaches, these artists elevate this throwaway material from its humble, utilitarian origins, transforming it into extraordinary, sophisticated works of art, including abstract forms, sculptural portraits, an installation of brightly painted plants and animals, a harpsichord and even a huge airplane.
