About Community River Health Day

June is San Lorenzo River Month! To celebrate our river and the Riverwalk, the Coastal Watershed Council is partnering with Eco Goods to co-host a Community River Health Day on Saturday, June 8, from 9:30 AM - 12 PM.

We will be removing invasive grasses and applying mulch around native plants at the Chinatown Pedestrian Bridge Parklet along the banks of the San Lorenzo River. Our overall goals are to ensure native plants have the space they need to thrive and to help beautify the Santa Cruz Riverwalk. This event is open to the public and to all ages so bring your friends and family!

Eco Goods is generously offering a 10% in-store discount to all volunteers. Each volunteer will also be entered in a raffle for the chance to win other prizes. Thank you Eco Goods for this additional support!

This event will take place on the west bank of the San Lorenzo River at the Chinatown Bridge (pedestrian bridge crossing from San Lorenzo Park). We will meet at the Santa Cruz Riverwalk on the downtown side of the Chinatown Bridge adjacent to River Street (across from Trader Joe's parking lot). Paid parking is available on River Street. We highly recommend walking or biking to the event as there is limited parking in the area.

We recommend that all volunteers dress in comfortable gardening clothes, including long pants, socks and sturdy shoes. Bring sun protection and a reusable water bottle. Gloves, tools and light refreshments provided. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
