About Envisioning a Sustainable Urban Landscape for Santa Cruz County

The Campaign for Sustainable Transportation sponsors a four-part participatory workshop: Envisioning a Sustainable Urban Landscape for Santa Cruz County, starting Saturday March 14th at 10 AM at the Aptos Public Library.
What makes an urban area sustainable? Do we need more density or less? How much? Where? Do we need narrower streets or wider ones? What about open space? Do you want a medical clinic in your neighborhood, or a bakery? How about farming or small manufacturing? Do you want homes in your neighborhood to be uniform in size and shape, or widely varied? And what kind of transportation network will connect your neighborhood to others?
Envisioning a Sustainable Urban Landscape is a workshop that reviews how modern cities took form, what works best for urban spaces that are functional and inviting, and invites participants to develop designs and strategies for transforming our communities into more sustainable forms.
Price includes all four sessions.
