About World Chess Championship Watch Party

Two players will compete for the official chess world championship: the defending world champion, Magnus Carlsen of Norway, and the challenger, Fabiano Caruana of the United States. Caruana is the first American player to qualify for a shot at the uncontested world championship since Bobby Fischer in 1972.

You are invited to the Aptos Branch Library watch party on Saturday, 11/10; Friday 11/16; Saturday 11/24; and Monday 11/26 from 10AM to noon. Live broadcast from London, with commentary by local masters Dana Mackenzie and Gjon Feinstein. Please note that 11/24 and 11/26 are the dates for the last two games of a scheduled 12-game match. If the match is decided earlier, then one or both of those games may be canceled. All the events are open to the general public with no age limitations and no fees charged.
