Donovan Hicks Barclay III was arrested shortly after midnight on Tuesday for violating the conditions of his release from prison for a DUI. It is not the first time that the 20-year-old has had a run-in with the law related to his driving.

In November 2007, he crashed his car on a rural road in Soquel, killing the two passengers, his cousins Shane Barclay, 22, and Tyler Barclay, 17, of Los Gatos. Donovan Barclay suffered a severe head injury at the time, and was put into an induced coma. According to police, he was driving at 80 mph when his car flipped over. Most information pertaining to the case is confidential, because Barclay was a minor at the time, but the victims’ mother, Barclay’s aunt, has since been waging a relentless campaign against drunk driving.

Then, in November 2010, Barclay crashed a pickup truck into a tree on Summit Road. He was driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone and was intoxicated at the time. He was released under his own recognizance.

Details have yet to be released about his most recent arrest, though police say he had violated the conditions of his release. He was released from prison after posting $25,000 bail.
