The Santa Cruz resident and Giants fan in happier days.

Tomorrow will mark a week since Bryan Stow of Santa Cruz was assaulted right after a Giants game in Dodger Stadium. His family and friends gather at his bedside every day, but doctors are hesitant to release a final diagnosis. What they do say, however, is that he is showing signs of “brain injury and dysfunction.” Even in the best-case scenario, warns neurosurgeon Dr. Gabriel Zada, Stow will be facing a long recovery process.

On Friday night, the Giants will honor Stow at their first home game of the season. On Monday, April 11, they plan to collect donations at their first home game against the Dodgers to support Stow and his family. Some 100 paramedics, many of them who had worked with Stow, will stand at the gates of the stadium to help collect the donations. Among the donors is the team itself, which has announced its plans to launch the Bryan Stow Fun with $10,000. A statement from the team’s Managing General Partner Bill Neukom read, “Bryan is a father, paramedic and lifelong Giants fan who has dedicated himself to caring for others. Now he needs our support as he fights for his life following this brutal and unconscionable act of violence.”

The LAPD is still trying to locate the perpetrators, who attacked Stow in the stadium’s parking lot after the game. The reward for information leading to their arrest has risen to $100,000, after the Los Angeles City Council approved a $50,000 reward and the County Board of Supervisors approved another $10,000. The Dodgers have offered a $25,000 reward, and the Giants added another $10,000. Stow’s employer, American Medical Response, is also offering a reward of $5,000.
