It began as a routine traffic stop on Coral Street on Monday. Alfonso Barrios, 32, was found to be driving without a license or any other identification. That was enough for police to search the vehicle. What they found were 15 bindles of heroin, presumably for sale. The passenger, Humberto Alcaraz, 29, was found to have $500 on him. Both men were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail, though Barrios posted bail the following day. Alcaraz is still being held due to a federal immigration hold.
