Adam Faucett at The Crepe Place with William Blackart
About Adam Faucett at The Crepe Place with William Blackart
Arkansas' Adam Faucett plays The Crepe Place Monday, April 22. The show begins at 9 p.m.
Faucett is on tour in support of his fifth and latest album, "It Took the Shape of a Bird (Last Chance Records). Named to Pop Matters' "Top 20 Americana Albums of 2018," the record was described by American Songwriter as a collection of "darkly poetic meanderings delivered with a voice at once tender and sulfurous."
On the road constantly since the release of his solo debut in 2007, Faucett has toured internationally and nationally with Chuck Ragan, Austin Lucas, King Buzzo (Melvins), Pallbearer and The Bottle Rockets, and he's shared the stage with a diverse array of artists ranging from Neurosis' Scott Kelly to Richard Buckner to Dead Meadow.
Faucett will be performing solo, electric this go-round, but his set will have more of the full-band feel to it, due to his voice that "knocks your brain into the back of your skull" (The Onion A.V. Club) and the power and volume achieved via electric guitar. "Slow 'n' Loud," as he puts it.
Fellow Arkie William Blackart will open the evening. With lyrics described as “poetic and captivating,” vocals pegged as “rough and emotive” and guitar work called “hypnotic and spare” (Dakota Discography), his influences range from Townes Van Zandt to Leonard Cohen to The Clash.
Blackart, playing a gravelly, lo-fi country brand of folk music, is also on the road in support of a new record. "Return," a collaboration with Faucett, was called "a showcase for Blackart's powerful, rough-hewn poetry and spare, country-folk meditations," by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, while There Stands The Glass described the album as "hardscrabble roots-rock, a supplemental soundtrack to the Netflix series, 'Ozark.'"
