Darol Anger & The Furies Perform in Soquel

arol Anger and Emy Phelps have been working for the last 4 years on a monumental project of Music from the Nineteen-Sixties. Music of that era has shaped all music since then, and established a collection of styles that artists create in today. Their new, freshly minted CD “Music of Our People” features some of the most memorable and impactful songs from this era.

Darol Anger and Emy Phelps are two unique and deeply affecting musicians. Legendary fiddler and multi-string master Darol Anger focuses his talents in service of the singer-songwriter's art. Emy Phelps is a standout artist in a large field: a prolific songwriter with a riveting voice, which plumbs the deepest emotions.

A musician of note in the Pacific Northwest, Phelps has made a 30-year music career while raising 3 sons and a daughter. She worked in Theatre and Special Education, and toured for 7 years with Brian Ransom's Ceramic Ensemble.
Darol Anger was a founding musician in The David Grisman Quintet, has played with Turtle Island String Quartet and performed and recorded with a wide range of artists, including many Windham Hill artists. Anger is and Associate Professor at Berklee College. Anger and Phelps dedicate a significant amount of time to teaching and sharing with the next generation of musicians.
Luckily, Anger and Phelps enjoy Santa Cruz and locales, which brings them here to perform in these rare more intimate, smaller venues. If this performance mirrors Anger and Phelps past performances in Santa Cruz, expect to be picked up and carried along by their talent, joy at playing together and respectful reverie with their art.
