Dirt Magic

Patagonia Santa Cruz is pleased to invite you to our free, family, community benefit event, Dirt Magic, on August 29th from 5PM to 9:30PM. We will be screening Dirt Magic, a film documenting Downieville, CA’s journey from dying mining town to mountain-biking mecca. Inspired by a desire to save their home trails, shaped by a grassroots-organization’s unintentional stewardship and fueled by the sport’s rowdiest festival, Downieville’s newest dirt miners are using their reputation to create a model community for struggling mountain towns across the globe—and it all started with a van, a chainsaw and a few maxed-out credit cards.

Following the film will be a short presentation from trail consultant Jordan Carr, and a panel discussion with local experts from Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Horsemen, Santa Cruz Parks and Rec. Department, Land Trust of Santa Cruz County, and Kenneth S. Norris Center for Natural History.

Join us on the deck at 5PM to enjoy musical entertainment, delicious Patagonia Provision incorporated dishes provided by Tacos El Chuy, and beer on tap. All proceeds will benefit Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz. Event doors will open at 7PM, and the film will begin at 7:30PM.
