6:45-7:15pm : Orientation for Newbies ~ Learn what we are about and how you can get involved

7:15-7:30pm : Snacks & Connection Time

7:30-8:15pm: XR Activator & Zen Priest Antoinette will share her account of being in the apocalyptic fires in Australia and what it was like to lose her house there. Using slides she will describe the impacts on the landscape, the animals and the people. She will share how this catastrophe might help galvanize necessary action on the climate emergency.

8:15-8:45pm: XR member & longtime direct action activist Herne will share his passion for the role of Affinity Groups in XR. An affinity group is a small group of people that have each other's backs, they encourage community, solidarity, coordination, practical support, creativity and decentralized decision-making. They are especially important before, during and after nonviolent direct actions that might lead to arrests. Come find out more and maybe even be part of forming one.
