About Martin Luther King Day of Service

Did you resolve to get more involved in your community in 2016?

Kick off the New Year by participating in a National Day of Service on Monday January 18th for Martin Luther King Day. Millions of Americans will honor the legacy of Dr. King by joining together in service to their local community. Join the Volunteer Center, the City of Santa Cruz and fellow non-profits as we engage in volunteer projects throughout Santa Cruz County. Help maintain a local garden, jump on a restoration project, make a struggling community member's day brighter, or help revitalize community spaces.

The Volunteer Center will host a kick off event with a light breakfast and coffee at Santa Cruz Bible Church at from 9-9:45 am. Grab a refreshment, register for a project and be inspired before adjourning for a day of volunteerism.

All are welcome. We look forward to seeing you and your family on this national day of service.

In the lead up to MLK Day we invite you to take part in the MLK Day Share the Warmth Drive. Donate new and gently used coats, scarves, blankets, and new toiletries at participating locations throughout Santa Cruz County between now and January 17. Items will be collected and sorted on Martin Luther King Day.

To learn more, register or view the full list of projects available including times and locations visit www.scvolunteercenter.org or call the Volunteer Center at 831-427-5070.
