About Steven Graves Band w/ Special Guests Reckless Poets
This veteran roots touring band has just released their 8th CD, "How Long"! The new CD leans more heavily toward the roots rock realms and even explores elements of gospel, soul and R&B. Even so, there’s plenty of Americana, Country and Jam/Dead influences present throughout the CD and like all of Steven’s music is woven together by finely crafted songwriting and extraordinary musicianship. This mostly original Americana band grooves with soul, consciousness and an old-school Classic Rock and Southern Rock edge. A bit Dead, Eagles, Pink Floyd and more....yet uniquely the Steven Graves Band. Steven shares: "My music is mostly all original and while defined as Americana or California Country we bring in many styles from gospel, R&B and even reggae. It's all woven together with high energy, catchy hooks, great harmonies and socially and spiritually conscious lyrics."
Steven was nominated for a Native American Music Award in 2012 for his "White Buffalo" song and has used his music as a means to help Native American communities. His latest song "Stand For The People" was under consideration as "Song of The Year" at this year's NAMYs. Popular not only in the Americana and Folk Rock genres but also, with the help of fan and publicist Dennis McNally (the Grateful Dead's publicist), the band's presence boasts rapid expansion in jam-band circles. For this show Steven brings his eight-piece band featuring soaring 4 part harmonies, crafty lyrics, catchy hooks, tasty guitars, classic keys, and a danceable backbeat! Come on down to dance, boogie or just enjoy this highly accomplished and original touring band. As Steven says, "It's all about bringing people together to share in the joy of music, conscious community and a positively fun vibe"!
The Reckless Poets Band features electric guitar, electric baritone guitar, piano/organ, bass and drums. Inspired by Classic Rock with influences from the Blues, Motown, Southern Rock and Jam Band Americana - the band performs original material as well as our own versions of songs from the 60’s and 70’s. You could say we love to play BOTH kinds of music: OLD songs… and NEW songs- Reckless Poets Style.
Each one of the Reckless Poets has a unique background with plenty of musical diversity, yet there are many common threads running through this band. Improvisation is one of the major factors driving us. Connection with the song, the words, and the listener… these desires unify us as well. Plus… we love to play great music together-Reckless Poets Style
