About Vive Oaxaca Guelaguetza

Vive Oaxaca is a multi-service nonprofit focused on strengthening the Santa Cruz community and creating cross-cultural connections locally and abroad. The Guelaguetza brings together dance, music, art, food, crafts, and community to celebrate the wonderful traditions of Oaxaca, Mexico. Local student dancers from Vive Oaxaca’s own Centeotl Grupo de Danza y Baile will be performing along with dancers from Oaxaca and Los Angeles. This year’s festival will feature student musicians from the Banda de Viento of Centro de Integracion Social School #8 of Oaxaca who will be participating in a two-week cultural exchange in Santa Cruz.
The festival’s marketplace selling food and crafts will be open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The dance and music performances will take place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission is $10 at the door; free for children under 5. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and be transported to the sights and sounds of Oaxaca!
