WE BELIEVE HER
A Social Justice Holiday Market
Presented by Rising International
This Saturday Rising International will open its doors to the public, and feature handcrafted boutique-quality products made by women survivors of gender-based violence, genocide, and human trafficking. Selling products through Rising International enables a survivor to make a life-changing income, and the opportunity to share her story with supporters that believe what happened to her.
Survivor-made products from over 20 impoverished countries will be featured. Shoppers will find baskets made by genocide survivors in Rwanda, silver jewelry made by survivors of forced labor in India, and aprons made by rape survivors in the D.R. Congo.
Typically Rising International sells these products at private home events, but for the holidays, Rising International is offering this pop up marketplace at its Santa Cruz office, and inviting the public. Proceeds from the sale benefit women both locally and globally. Rising International trains economically vulnerable women in Santa Cruz County, many who are also survivors of violence, to run their own Rising International businesses. These local entrepreneurs take pride in earning an income by helping other survivors to rise.
