About Youth Violence Prevention: Action Forum

Come Toegther: Celebration & Action Launch!

On Wednesday, June 5th, dialogue participants from across the county will come together with other stakeholders and partners in violence prevention to celebrate the completion of the countywide dialogue circles and launch into collective action. Hosted by the Santa Cruz County Youth Violence Prevention Task Force (YVPT), the Action Forum is the next step in the Dialogues for Change Project that seeks to help build trust and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and community — a proven strategy for creating safer communities.

Over the past couple months, dialogue circles were held across the county. Participants, including youth, adult community members and law enforcement represenative, meet for two hours each week to discuss issues of identity, experience, and equity. They worked together to create a vision for accountability and safety in our communities and set priorities for action and change. At the Action Forum, dialogue participants will share reflections and present action ideas that were generated by their groups to collectively make our shared vision for safe & equitable communities a reality.

Everyone has a role to play in creating safe and thriving communities! This exciting event is open to the public and all are welcomed to learn more and join action work groups to make these ideas a reality. Advance registration is required.
